Fun Facts

Fact 1
The Siberian tiger is the world's largest cat. It has a total length of 2.7-3.3m. It stands 99-107cm at the shoulder and weighs 180-306kg.

Fact 2
The heaviest recorded domestic cat was a neutered male tabby named Himmy, who weighed 46lb 150z. Himmy died in 1986 at the age of 10 and was owned by Thomas Vyse in Queensland, Australia.

Fact 3
Certain Chinese and American alligators can survive the winter by freezing their heads in ice, leaving their nose out to breath for months on end.

Fact 4
Cattle have their own built-in 'central heating' system, provided by the fermentation of their food inside the stomach. So, even if it is very cold they rarely have to shiver to generate extra body heat!

Fact 5
The sailfish, the swordfish and the mako shark have all been clocked at swimming over 50mph.
