SCHOOLS ART COMPETITION 2011
2011 has been a horrendous year for animal welfare societies as people tend to hold on to any monies they have and animal welfare is given a back seat. It is more important than ever to remind young people that they have duties and responsibilities with regard to animals in their (or indeed their parents) care. To remind young people and to encourage them to think about animals and to express themselves, the Donegal SPCA are organising an Art Competition for 1st. and 6th. class in schools in Donegal.
Participants are asked to create a picture of their favourite animal/s. One winner will be chosen in both categories. To provide an incentive to your school we are going to provide an iPod for the pupil in a sixth class who wins our competition, an Art Set for the first class pupil who wins and a prize of €500.00 to the school or schools which the winning pupils attend- that is a possible €1000 to your school.
Although it is expected that most pupils will return A4 or A3 pages, any size will be accepted. Ensure the pupil’s name, age, school and class are written on the reverse.
To be entered in the competition simply enclose each class’s art work in an envelope and return them to your nearest Garda Station in another envelope addressed to Sgt. M. Carroll at the address below. The closing date for the competition is Friday 4th November 2011, entries after this date will not be considered.
We know that you are very busy, but we would really appreciate your co-operation in ensuring that both 6th. and 1st. class become involved.
Winners will announced before Christmas with a presentation in the New Year!
The completed returns should be addressed with the cover sheet to;

ANIMAL WELFARE OPEN DAY 2010
Donegal SPCA hosted the first ever Animal Welfare Open Day in April 2010. We were delighted to have such a gathering of animal welfare societies, organisations and departmental groups involved. The aim of the open day was to highlight the tremendous work carried out in the county regarding the welfare and well being of all animals as well as giving the public an opportunity to gain information to support any animal needs they needed. The new website was officially launched by John Breslin of Highland Radio on the day. This website will be a portal for all animal welfare concious people giving up to date news regarding the aims of the Donegal SPCA and information for all animal needs.
